Questions in an emergency.
What to know before you call. And what we need from you.
01How do I reach the SOS service?
Call the SOS number +49 176 83179501, day and night. Or send the SOS form on this page with position, vessel name and photos. We call you back.
02What information do you need?
Vessel name and IMO number, port and berth or position, how long the ship stays, what happened and where, photos of the damage, and whether class or insurers have been informed. A contact on board or at the owner's office helps with planning.
03How fast can you be on site?
That depends on where your ship is and what is needed. We do not promise a fixed time. In the first call we tell you when a crew can be on site, and we keep you updated.
04Who agrees the repair with class?
For damage to the ship's structure the classification society usually has to approve and accept the repair. We agree scope and method with you, your superintendent and the surveyor, and provide the records for welders and procedures.
05Secure it now or repair it for good?
If time is short, damage can first be secured and repaired permanently later. Class decides whether and for how long a temporary repair is acceptable. We plan both so the second step does not double the work.
06How is it charged?
On a time and materials basis or, once the scope is clear, at a fixed price. We agree the contract form with you before the job.
